Amba-Ambika Buddhist Caves in Junnar offer a captivating glimpse into the rich legacy of Buddhism in India. While not as extensive as some other cave complexes, the site exudes a peaceful aura and showcases remarkable craftsmanship, making it a hidden gem well worth exploring for those seeking a unique and contemplative experience. It's recommended to visit with a knowledgeable guide or do some research beforehand to truly appreciate the historical and cultural significance of the Amba-Ambika Buddhist Caves. While the site may not be as elaborate as some of its counterparts, its raw beauty, cultural heritage, and the sense of connection it fosters with ancient times make it a worthwhile stop for history enthusiasts and spiritual seekers alike.

The caves are maintained properly… hats off. There is also some work going of safety grills. I would suggest there must be a gatekeeper at the bottom and must charge entry fees with restricted timings. This will indeed keep the place intact.

Its an insolated, peaceful place covered with greenery Very good example of rock cut architecture (ofcourse junnar has highest number of rock cut caves in india and this is one of it) It contains chaitya, viharas and rock cut caves situated on a mountain If you are visiting during rainy season be careful as the way up is slipery There is no facility of drinking water or toilet nearby so better be prepared Wonderful place to visit with friends and family to enjoy and admire ancient indian culture and architecture Though a beautiful place it is neglected and not that famous compared to other leni (lenyadri and others)

It was nice to go there..I liked to visit our ancient culture..2000 years old buddhist hinyana caves might be from satavahana period..Good condition.one chaitya there and another was half completed.. Better to go during rainy season.. Scenery was awesome.. Easy to go there ,there is a sign board just beside road in the form of two cement piller.. Note: that is another one more caves that was hijacked by local superstitious people for there imaginary mythologically god. So every true indian has their responsibility to save our ancient 2000 years old buddhist culture from vedik sanatani people..They are trying to ruin our ancient culture by replacing to their mythological god.. Already some sculpture badly ruined by haldi, kumkum, sindoor like..

A nice and isolated place. It is not well maintained or having proper markings for the way. Location and How to find: Just look for Brick Makers in the location given by Google, there it will be a ramshackle gate to enter. Later after entering, you have to pass through a brief Jungle area to climb the mountain where these caves are located. Once You are there: It is fairly clean and amazing place. It really amazed us on how these caves would have been made some centuries ago! It is a silent and isolated place with some random blue colour markings at some place to show the direction.

"Despite beautiful and easy access Govt has neglected such a precious place. No interference of local except sculpures are coloured with haldi and kum kum. Walkable distance. Other caves are also nearby from left side of the first encountered caves. This place must be developed so that it would attract the people."

Located between the woods, these are magnificent group of Buddhist caves one must add in the to see list. Although a little more of care buy the government would make it even more beautiful.
